What is CONstruct?
Not just a convention - this is a materials expo by today’s experts for tomorrow’s artists.
The on-site venue at TCS provides the best possible environment to hobnob with professional FX artists. Panels and workshop demos are held throughout the day and will allow attendees to learn how to make your next costume, prosthetic, or prop. A vendors hall and guest tables will provide easy access to professionals and artists.
Where and when is it taking place?
It will be held at The Compleat Sculptor on May 19-21st, 2017. The venue is located at 90 Vandam Street, New York, NY.
Have you done this before?
Yes! This is our second event at this venue.
That’s right! Instead of just talking about the materials, you will have the opportunity to sign up for panels and workshops where you can dive right in and sling some silicone (or resin... or epoxy!).
What are the hours?
CONstruct is open from 10 AM to 7 PM on both Saturday, May 20th and Sunday, May 21st. On Friday, we’ll be hosting a sneak peek night from 5-7 pm, open only to weekend ticket holders.
Vendors will have admittance between 9 am and 8 PM for setup/breakdown.
You have some amazing guests in attendance! Can I meet them one-on-one?
Absolutely! We’ll have guest tables and vendor tables where you can meet and greet the guests, as well as artist tables.
How large is the location?
CONstruct is held on site at The Compleat Sculptor! They regularly hold on-site classes and have opened up their classroom and warehouse space to us for the 2-day expo.
In addition to a large vendor and artists hall, there are five different panel/workshop rooms and a demo room. Our full panel schedule will go live in March 2017.
I’m interested in being a vendor, volunteer, or guest.
That’s great! We’d love to have you. Please contact us directly at contact AT construct-fx.com.
What’s this about the Five Palette Challenge?
We’re running a contest on Friday night with pre-selected contestants! Each of the five contestants will compete for an hour during our Friday night festivity. A random palette from European Body Art’s ENCORE line (SFX, Blood, Injury, Undead, or Zombie) will be given on site, and the contestant will need to create a look from that palette only. The look is limited entirely by the palette’s colors and the contestant’s imagination. Our Guests of Honor will judge the final looks after one hour of creation in three categories: originality, craftsmanship, and artistry. Show off your work to our guest list—and get a chance to win free makeup!
If you’re interested in competing, just send five photographs of your previous work, plus your name and contact information, to CONTEST@CONSTRUCT-FX.COM. We will contact you by May 1st if you are selected as a contestant. If you participate, you will need to come with a set of brushes and a model to work on—that’s it! Alcohol and the random palette will be given on site. $1895 total in prizes are as follows: All 5 contestants will receive two weekend badges and a Encore Palette: $319/ea; Winner will receive a makeup prize bag sponsored by European Body Art: $300+.
How many people will be in attendance?
Space is limited and once the tickets are gone--they’re gone. In order to keep everyone happy, and our panels and demos uncrowded, we’re limiting space to 200 tickets a day. We hope you can be one of them!
I'd like to buy two tickets at once. Why can't I?
Unfortunately, in order to later allow you to sign up for unique workshops, every ticket must be partnered with a unique email address. This means every ticket needs to be purchased separately.
